What are other people thinking❓❓❓

What are other people thinking❓❓❓

“But if I say this, then they will think that….”

Have you noticed how much energy and time your brain spends on wildly assuming and guessing how other people will react to whatever you say or do?

We struggle with making a decision and standing by it, because in our brains we can literally hear our mum/people from the village/other vets/fill in the blank voicing their opinion, and it makes us falter.

We don’t even notice it. If I asked you: “Why would you let your neighbours decide where you should work?” It sounds crazy, right 🤯?

But that’s what we DO!! We don’t do what we really want because deep down we worry about what others will think and how they will judge us. 👀

So if you’re considering going down in hours, changing careers completely, or moving to a more administrative part of veterinary medicine, you might worry about what that means for your identity. How other people will see you, and judge you.

But when you REALLY think about it, it’s YOUR life, and all that matters is YOUR happiness. YOUR priorities. YOUR health.

We cannot possibly anticipate what other people are going to think about us.

We cannot control other people’s opinions, and if you try, you’ll burn out. 🥵

You want to learn to listen to your own inner voice, and let other people think and say what they want.

I know it can be hard. It’s so human to want to fit in and belong, and be liked.

But you can’t please everyone anyway (possibly not even your mother😅) so you might as well go with what you most want, for you.

And if you change your mind, and end up doing a second or third or fourth thing - it still doesn’t matter what others think.

In your corner,
