How can you create love for your job in the veterinary profession?
In order to have a functional relationship, we need to create love every day
In order to love our jobs, we need to actively look for what IS working well for us, and what we like about it, every day.
It’s so easy in a relationship to start focusing on all the things our partner does wrong, and how they don’t make us feel amazing all the time.
Our brains are primed to focus on the negative, so it’s a normal human behavior.
Working as a veterinarian, it’s so easy to focus on the rude clients, all the stuff we’re not confident at yet, the times we don’t feel supported by management, and so on.
If you want to enjoy your working life, you want to learn to focus on the things you DO enjoy; like the nice clients, how far you’ve come, the pets you help, and remember how hard you worked to get here.
You can still make changes from this mindset, but you’ll do it from a much more empowered state of mind, and loving your life along the way.
There’s zero advantage to let our brains indulge in victimhood and chronic dissatisfaction - it gets you nowhere and you feel pretty awful most of the time.
In order to create love for your job, do an evaluation at the end of each day, focusing first on everything you enjoyed and what went well. You’ll have to re-train your brain to do this, but it gets easier with practice!
And THEN write about 2-3 things you’d like to change or improve, and what is the ONE next step for each of them, so you don’t feel so overwhelmed and weighed down.
Do this everyday for a week - and you’ll start noticing the difference pretty quickly.Let me know how it goes for you, and if something came in the way of you doing this - what was it and why??
Start changing your life TODAY - you don’t have to wait for anything around you to change in order to love your job and handle life with ease and confidence.
